Self Care is the practice of taking an active role in action to preserve or improve one’s own health, protecting well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.
The first formal report of Cannabis as a medicine appeared in China nearly 5000 years ago when it was recommended for malaria, constipation, rheumatic pains and childbirth and, mixed with wine, as a surgical analgesic (Mechoulam, 1986)
Cannabis has made its way back into the lifestyle of many American’s simply to aid with accumulative issues stemming from many illnesses, diseases and stress. With uses of Cannabis being qualified for many ailments and disease such as:
Alzheimer’s disease
Appetite loss
Cancer
Crohn’s disease
Diseases affecting the immune system like HIV/AIDS or Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Eating disorders such as anorexia
Epilepsy
Glaucoma
Mental health
posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Multiple sclerosis
Muscle spasms
Nausea
Pain
Seizures
Wasting syndrome (cachexia)
There is no wonder the buzz around Cannabis is ever in the favor of the future use in medicine.
This month we will discuss the use of Cannabis as medicine for Self Care. Touching on how stress related issues can manifest it’s way by inflammation, chronic pain, mental wellbeing and more.
This is approximately a 45-60 minute discussion.
